Interview with Claire Hyvernat (BSB '91), BSB Foundation Board Member

A PhD in Management Science, Marketing lecturer, and 1991 BSB graduate, Claire Hyvernat has served on the Board of Directors since 2022.
During the Give For YouTH campaign, she stood out as the ambassador who mobilized the most alumni from a single graduating class, dedicating her energy and network to the cause of social solidarity.
What drives her? A strong conviction: equal opportunity.
The 13 members of the BSB Foundation's Executive Committee are collectively committed to increasing its impact on students.
Today, she shares what led her to get involved and what this experience means to her.
What was your "aha moment" for getting involved with the BSB Foundation?
From the very first initiative—the sale of the stones from the 1900 gate—my husband (also class of '91) and I were moved by Stéphane Bourcieu's effort to provide financial aid to students in need. It felt completely natural to take my involvement further by becoming a board member.
Which cause or type of project supported by the Foundation resonates with you most personally?
My work as a teacher has made me acutely aware of the inequality of opportunity. Trying to restore a bit more balance is a major motivator for me. Therefore, the Equality pillar is my personal priority.
As an alumnus, what is the greatest satisfaction you get from contributing to the BSB Foundation?
The feeling of taking concrete action for the BSB community. On a smaller scale, successfully mobilizing my graduating class is a motivating challenge.
What is your personal motto to share with the new generation?
I don’t have a motto, but I operate on the idea that you should always see the glass as half full.
What excites you most about how your school has evolved since you were a student?
The union of Burgundy and Franche-Comté behind the school—my two home regions!
If you could go back in time for one day at BSB, where would you go? What would you do?
To the school basement that housed the famous piano bar for a Class of '91 party!
And what about you, BSB graduate? What contribution would you like to make to the development of your school?
